University Liggett School offers many scholarships to students from across the region to give them an opportunity to begin or continue their studies at our school. Our scholarship programs allow us to recognize and recruit the best and brightest students: those with academic strength and promise. leadership qualities, a range of extracurricular interests, and those who will take part in - and contribute to - the life of the school. We offer both merit- and need-based scholarships.

James Robb Baubie Scholarship
Established to honor the spirit of athleticism and school pride, the James Robb Baubie Scholarship recognizes students who are both academically strong and athletically inclined. Recipients hold this merit-based award throughout their Upper School years.
Kyle Denham Memorial Scholarship
The Kyle Alan Denham Memorial Scholarship celebrates students who embody academic excellence, strong character, and leadership potential. Awarded each year to a rising ninth grader, this four-year scholarship honors Kyle’s legacy through a commitment to learning and integrity.
Class of 1972 Scholarship
Created by the Class of 1972, this scholarship recognizes incoming ninth graders who demonstrate leadership, community engagement, ambition, and exceptional character. It honors the class’s enduring legacy by supporting students who exemplify their values of drive and dedication.
Jacqueline & Peter Gushee Memorial Scholarship
The Jacqueline & Peter Gushee Memorial Scholarship honors students who exemplify compassion, service, and academic excellence. In even years, the scholarship is awarded to an incoming ninth grader who demonstrates exceptional ability and interest in language arts, along with strong academics and model citizenship. In odd years, it is presented to an incoming ninth grader who shows a record of community service, sportsmanship, and a humanitarian spirit. This alternating award celebrates the legacies of Jacqueline Lowe Gushee and Peter Hale Gushee, who believed deeply in learning, integrity, and service to others.
Ray and Lenita Robbins Scholarship
The Ray and Lenita Robbins Scholarship recognizes new students entering grades six through twelve who excel academically and contribute meaningfully to school life. Recipients are selected for their strong character, citizenship, and active involvement in the University Liggett School community.
Nicole Maire Shammas Memorial Scholarship
The Nicole Maire Shammas Memorial Scholarship honors middle school students who show creativity, passion, and promise in the arts. Candidates display both artistic talent and a love of learning, reflecting Nicole’s joyful and expressive spirit.
S. Gary Spicer, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The S. Gary Spicer, Jr. ’93 Memorial Scholarship supports incoming ninth graders who demonstrate leadership, athletic ability, community involvement, and strength of character. Established in memory of Gary’s vibrant and driven spirit, this scholarship encourages students to pursue excellence in all they do.
Paige Stalker Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to an incoming ninth grader, the Paige Stalker Memorial Scholarship honors students who excel academically, demonstrate exceptional character, and are deeply committed to their community. It celebrates Paige’s legacy of kindness, courage, and compassion.
Gordon L. Stewart Family Fine Arts Scholarship
The Gordon L. Stewart Family Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes upper school students who display talent and dedication in the creative or performing arts. Recipients are selected for their artistic ability, academic promise, and enthusiasm for artistic exploration.
Robert G. Wood Scholarship Fund
This scholarship honors students entering ninth grade who are passionate about athletics, committed to community service, and dedicated to academic achievement. The Robert G. Wood Scholarship celebrates well-rounded students who balance excellence both on and off the field.
Lisa Black Class of 1977 Scholarship
The Lisa Black Class of 1977 Scholarship supports incoming ninth-grade students who demonstrate leadership, athletic ability, character, and community involvement. This scholarship reflects Lisa’s dedication to empowering future generations of Liggett leaders.
Ri Renaud ’41 LIG Outdoor Education Scholarship
Inspired by a lifelong love of the outdoors, the Ri Renaud ’41 LIG Outdoor Education Scholarship supports incoming freshmen who demonstrate enthusiasm for nature, outdoor adventures, and environmental learning. The scholarship celebrates Ri’s belief in the power of outdoor experiences to inspire growth and resilience.
